Sioux City (pronounced /ˌsuːˈsɪti/) is a city located in northwest Iowa in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 90,013. The 2006 census estimate indicated a slight decline to 83,262. Sioux City is the primary city of the four-county Sioux City, IA-NE-SD Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), with a population of 143,053 in 2000 and a slight decline to an estimated 142,794 in 2007; however, the population has been increasing again since 2005. The Sioux City-Vermillion, IA-NE-SD Combined Statistical Area has an estimated population of 156,158 as of 2007. It is the county seat of Woodbury County.
